Today we would like to introduce you to one of our sponsors, DiveMedia Solutions, and the founder of this company Lee Taylor-Watson. DiveMedia Solutions produced our fantastic Friends for Sharks website and if you are looking to develop a brand new online presence or refresh your existing website, the DiveMedia Team can certainly help you. They come highly recommended by us for their enthusiasm, skill and professionalism. It’s time to settle down for their Sponsor Q&A session and hear more about this company and their hopes for the future of the oceans.

Tell us a little about your business. How would you describe it in less than fifty words?

DiveMedia provides marketing, media, communications, publishing and IT solutions specifically for the scuba diving industry.

Do you have any exciting projects on the horizon?

We currently produce The Scuba News but we also have a few new publications in the pipeline that will allow those in the scuba diving industry to connect with divers in a variety of new ways.

How did you get to where you are today?

I have been teaching small business owners how to harness the power of online and offline marketing for nearly 20 years. After becoming a diver and talking to more scuba diving businesses it became apparent that I could help people in a specific and targeted way. Too many businesses in the diving industry were receiving bad advice and not using the tools they had access to in an effective way at all. Some companies were receiving advice from “Dive Industry Professionals” that wasn’t just ineffective, it was actually wrong and wrong to such an extent that it would do their business more harm than good. Combining the profession I am passionate about with the hobby that I love is the perfect way to spend my time. What I do never feels like “Work”, I am doing what I love every day!

What inspires and motivates you?

Knowing that I am helping diving businesses achieve their goals is amazing to me. Knowing that a diving centre is getting more guests, or a diving manufacturer is selling more products as a direct result of what I do motivates me to keep moving forward. To not just continue offering the same advice but to innovate ideas within the marketing sector that target the diving industry in the most effective ways possible.

Why did you choose to support Friends for Sharks?

I have been wanting to become a bit more philanthropic in recent years but time and money don’t always allow the freedom to do it. Friends for Sharks came along at the perfect time where I thought I could add genuine value to the project. Shark preservation is such an important part of ocean conservation and should be given as much awareness as possible, particularly to school children. Kat and Nick are passionate about the project and I am proud to have been asked for my support in the first place and even more proud to know that I am helping them in areas where they need it. I will be continually looking for new ways that DiveMedia and some of the other brands we operate can continue to raise awareness for what I consider to be a great project. I am very happy to be part of the team in any way I can!

Do you have any shark encounters you would like to share with us?

Unfortunately not. I have still not seen sharks in the water but I have no doubt that will all change at some point in the next couple of years.

What is your hope for the future of the oceans?

Conservation and preservation are vital to the future of our oceans but this has to start with education. Not just education in schools but education for people of all ages. Until people know the full extent of the damage we are doing to our oceans, quite often inadvertently in most cases, things are never going to change. Projects like Friends for Sharks and Project AWARE are vitally important by taking an educational standpoint on conservation issues and I will be happy to support these kind of initiatives in any way I can.
